My Pastime With Watercolors
50My other try at painting was with Watercolors. I enjoyed this very much during the few weeks of classes I took. Our teacher was quite easy going and started out by showing us the very, very basics. I personally needed that. I went several Saturdays and quite frankly, I did some fairly simple pictures that I felt very good about. This was a fun class with very little structure and quite comfortable, just what I needed....No pressure.
It was over a year, after we had moved that I signed up for another Watercolor class. This teacher was great, very structured, the class would critique each others work and it too was quite comfortable and fun....I again stayed for a couple months and we then took the last move to our destination.
I am sharing some of my Watercolor paintings in this Hub.

Once again my favorites are two of your landscapes -- the mountain and water scene and the trees, road and hill.
I had a major problem with watercolors for the longest time until I finally understood I had to mix them twice as strong as I needed. They lighten a lot when they dry. This can make a painting that looks right when it's wet turn out to be very soft and pale when it dries. One exception to this is using Yarka St. Petersburg Professional watercolors, they come in full pans individually or sets of 24 at Blick.
Those stay bright even after they dry and it's been great using them. I started using bolder color and stronger values once I figured that out.
