My Pastime With Pastels
49My Pastel classes numbered about Twenty, our teacher was very good, not to structured, a fun person and was close to my home. She was involved with some local Cafes that allowed her to hold "Shows" for her students, that was so cool....Here I was, doing some fair stuff, having fun and just enjoying myself, that was good enough for me, But to show your work to some crowds, Wow! She also sold paintings, did matting and framed paintings for other people and did several for our shows. That was a great "One Stop Shopping" bonanza.
I did attend one show with about 15-20 pieces, I actually sold one that day. How cool was that?
As I have mentioned in my other Hubs, I don't like to practice or train, that is one of my flaws. I do need to try harder but for now, I am what I am.
Like my other Hubs, I am also going to share. Here are a few of my Pastels...

I hope you're paying attention to robertsloan2, dad, uh, I mean skinyou, because he seems to know what he's talking about and he's been giving you good info and has been very complimentary of your work.

You're a good painter. My favorite is the lake landscape, that one jumps out at me as having great balance and good light. Nothing wrong with progress at your own pace and having fun! There's a book I'm studying now, "Capturing Radiant Light and Color" by Susan Sarback that is awesome for pastels or oils. I also got a lot out of "The Pastel Book" by Bill Creevy.
